da stake casino: Newcastle are pondering a double swoop for Lyon’s Bafetimbi Gomis and Yoann Gourcuff, according to reports from The Metro.
da dobrowin: Alan Pardew, director of football Joe Kinnear and chief scout Graham Carr all travelled to France to watch the duo in action during their Champions League qualification clash with Real Sociedad this week– a match they lost 2-0.
Gomis – a long-term target of the club – failed to feature in the tie, but Gourcuff played the entire 90 minutes, and is said to have impressed the travelling Magpies contingent.
Now, the ‘Toon’ could up their interest, particularly if Yohan Cabaye is sold to Arsenal.
Gourcuff is seen as a direct replacement for his compatriot, due to his passing range and ability to play across the midfield.
Gomis is also high on Pardew’s wishlist, with the ex-West Ham boss keen to build on his attacking options.
Lyon could be convinced to sell the pair due to financial issues.
The French giants have admitted in the past that Gomis could be sold to ease debts, while Gourcuff may also be granted the opportunity to move on.
Gourcuff was once thought of as one of Europe’s top emerging playmakers, but a series of injuries stunted his development over the course of the last few years.
Newcastle fans, would Yoann Gourcuff and Bafetimbi Gomis be the ideal replacements for Yohan Cabaye?
