da fazobetai: BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes that it is “quite possible” that Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will be wearing Tottenham Hotspur colours next season.
da pinup bet: Toffees manager Ronald Koeman has been very open about the situation regarding Barkley, claiming that the England international has until this week to sign a new deal.
If he opts against putting pen to paper, the club will look to sell him this summer in order to prevent him from leaving Goodison Park for free when his contract expires at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Tottenham have been one name banded about in the gossip pages in terms of potential destinations for Barkley.
Crooks, who selected the 23-year-old in his Team of the Week, has suggested that a switch to Spurs could be on the cards for the midfielder.
“If the rumours are true and Spurs are interested in Barkley, then the player has the perfect get-out clause. Whatever the outcome of this contractual situation, it is in Barkley’s best interests not to wait for bad news to spark him into providing his best performances but to start creating the news himself. That is what the best players do and if he does go to Spurs, which I think is quite possible, he will be expected to do just that.”
Barkley has had a rather inconsistent campaign, showing glimpses of quality but failing to maintain it on a regular basis.
Last Friday, it was a positive display from the homegrown midfielder as he scored the one and only goal in a victory over Watford on home soil.
Barkley has scored five times and made eight assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
